Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was not attending the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) executive meeting, being held in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Iran's permanent ambassador to OIC Mostafa Boroujerdi, who is participating in the OIC meeting, said that the "Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the ministerial meeting falls short of OIC capacity to deal with massacre of Palestinians in Gaza Strip."
Mottaki on Friday harshly criticized Islamic countries and OIC for silence towards Gaza miseries, adding that if OIC cannot do anything for Palestine it is better to cease existence.
An emergency meeting of the executive committee at the level of foreign ministers of OIC member states started on Saturday to discuss the Israeli aggression against Gaza strip.
The Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip was under intensive Israeli air strikes for the eighth successive day on Saturday.
Since last Saturday, Israel's massive air raids on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip has killed more than 400 Palestinians and injured some 2,000 others.
Israel said the offensive was aimed at halting nearly daily cross-border rocket attacks by the Palestinian militants.
Hamas is strongly backed by Iran which does not recognize Israel as a state of the international community.
