U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher arrived in Islamabad for a visit on Monday amid the tensions between Pakistan and India after the Mumbai terror attacks.

Boucher is expected to meet with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other officials during his stay, local Geo TV channel said.

The war on terror, Pakistan-India tensions and other issues will come under discussion.

Boucher is likely to visit New Delhi for talks on ongoing investigation into the Mumbai attacks, reports said.

Boucher's visit came when Pakistan-India tensions were heightened as the Indian side accused Pakistan-based militant groups of involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks, which killed more than 170.

The tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries has put the four-year peace process on hold.
