Palestine will have a draft resolution presented to the UN Security Council "as soon as possible," Riyad al-Malki, foreign minister of the Palestinian Authority, said here on Monday.
The minister said that he is at the UN Headquarters in New Yorkupon the request of Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas to "prepare a draft resolution that will be presented to the Security Council as soon as possible," he said.
The move was taken upon the decision made at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo three days ago, he said, adding that heis the first to arrive in New York.
"President (Abbas) will be arriving (here) hopefully tomorrow," and he will meet with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to voice his concerns with the escalation of the current Gaza conflict, he said, adding that the Security Council is hopefully to convene an open session on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The draft resolution will include the 15-member council's serious concerns at the humanitarian situation in Gaza, call for an immediate and permanent cease-fire in Gaza, and stop the besiege and the opening of the crossings, he said.
