Jordan's king on Tuesday renewed his appeal for prompt international efforts to end Gaza crisis, said the Royal Hashemite Court.
The king made the appeal when meeting with visiting Quartet envoy to the Middle East Tony Blair.
The king warned against the humanitarian and political repercussions which resulted from Israel's flagrant aggression on the Gaza Strip, said the royal court in a statement.
The international community, said the king, has to shoulder its responsibility and act promptly to stop the Israeli offensive and handle humanitarian catastrophe, especially ensure swift delivery of sufficient medical aid to the district.
"Efforts then should focus on launching effective initiatives to alleviate its diverse ramifications on the volatile region and pursue negotiations to reach a just and comprehensive solution to Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the two-state basis, which ensures the establishment of a sovereign viable Palestinian state," he said.
Blair, for his part, updated the king on the outcome of his ongoing regional tour to reach a ceasefire and handle the humanitarian crisis sparked off by the Israeli attack.
Israel launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Dec. 27 and a ground offensive on the coastal enclave sandwiched between Egypt and Israel on Jan. 3.
More than 600 Palestinians have been killed and 2,700 others injured in the ongoing military operation which Israel said is to stop rocket and mortar attacks against the southern part of the Jewish state.
