Thousands of Lebaneses and Palestinians held a rally in southern Lebanese city of Siden on Wednesday in protest against Israeli "aggression" on Gaza, local Elnashra website reported.
Lebanese Education Minister Bahia Hariri, Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) representative Abbas Zaki and Hamas representative in Lebanon Osama Hamdan attended the rally, organized by a Lebanese-Palestinian committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Hariri told the rally that solidarity with Gaza "can only be reached through confronting the aggression."
Zaki pledged that the PLO presented itself as a victim for the sake of its brothers in the Hamas movement. "We are willing to make compromises for each others and not give compromises to Israel."
On his part, Hamas' Hamdan hailed the rally as the first steps towards Palestinian unity, saying that the unity "have been achieved in Lebanon and would be completed in Palestine."
"Lebanon, both official and popular has been in an outstanding solidarity with the people of Gaza, this is a clear message that we are all in one trench," Hamdan said.
He, meanwhile, vowed that despite the Israeli "ugly massacres," the resistance in Gaza is still holding on and will not surrender.
Popular rallies and demonstrations have been carried out across Lebanon every day since the beginning of the Israeli attack on Gaza on Dec. 27, which was described as "a united Lebanese official stand" of both the ruling coalition and the opposition in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.
