Israeli police and military sources said that at least three rockets were fired into northern Israel from Lebanon early Thursday, agencies reported.
Israeli Channel 10 TV reported that several people were lightly wounded.
Israel's Channel 2 TV said explosions were heard in northern Israel, caused probably by rockets from neighboring Lebanon.
Reports said that between three and five rockets landed in northern Israel.
Israel and Lebanon went into a brief war in 2006 over the Hezbollah guerrillas.
Residents of the western Galilee bordering Lebanon were quoted as saying that at least three rockets hit their communities, with one falling close to the town of Nahariya.
The police have ordered the residents there to remain close to the fortified areas, and school has been cancelled in the region.
UN peacekeepers and Lebanese troops have stepped up patrols along the border with Israel about two weeks ago after rockets were discovered aimed at Israel and ready to fire. Source:Xinhua
