Indonesia is set to build a hospital in Gaza Strip of Palestine following damages of hospitals during a conflict between Hamas and Israel last month.

Indonesian Health Ministry's chair for crisis control Rustam S.Pakaya said on Wednesday that the Indonesian government had prepared for initial funds to construct the hospital amounting up to 1.8 million U.S. dollars, Antara news agency reported.

Some of the money is from the public collected through Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) and local associations like the Indonesian Red Crescent Moon (BSM) and Muhammadiyah had pledged to contribute funds to establish the hospital, he said.

MER-C's presidium member Joserizal Jurnalis said that the government had designed for the hospital and would name it as Indonesia's Hospital.

"We have expected that the planned hospital may tighten ties between Indonesia and Palestine in many sectors, including health," he said.
