A Palestinian driver hit and injured two Israeli police officers with his car near Jerusalem on Saturday, local news service Ynet reported.
The policemen were rushed to hospital following the incident, which happened near a checkpoint north of the Holy City, and the driver, resident of east Jerusalem, was immediately detained, said the report.
The motive behind the incident was still under investigation. The report said the attacker initially admitted malice, but later confessed to having mental problems.
The incident came a day after a Palestinian man, who entered a settlement in the West Bank and allegedly attempted an attack, was shot dead by local security guards, and two weeks after a Palestinian man killed an Israeli teenager and wounded a child in another West Bank settlement before he escaped.
These incidents came against the backdrop of an increasingly tense relations between Israelis and Palestinians, especially since Israel's massive Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip in last December and this January, that killed over 1,400 Palestinians in the coastal enclave.
Last month, two Israeli police officers were shot dead by one or more Palestinian gunmen on a road in the West Bank. Weeks later, a car loaded with explosives was found outside a busy shopping mall in the northern city of Haifa.
