The United Nations envoy to Iraq on Thursday strongly condemned a string of deadly bombings in the country, calling them "reprehensible crimes that have indiscriminately targeted ordinary Iraqis."

Staffan de Mistura, the UN secretary-general's special representative to Iraq, also extended the UN's condolence to the families of the victims and sent wishes for the full and speedy recovery of the wounded.

According to media reports, the blasts, which occurred both on Wednesday and Thursday in the capital Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk, have claimed dozens of lives.
