Visiting Iraqi Vice President Tariqal-Hashimi said here on Thursday that Iraq desired its relations with Turkey to become a unique example for other countries, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Al-Hashimi, who arrived in the Turkish capital of Ankara, visited the headquarter of Police Academy where 12 Iraqi police officers were being trained on bomb disposal techniques.

Holding talks with the head of the academy Prof. Zuhtu Aslan, al-Hashimi was quoted as saying that Iraq was thankful for the training opportunity offered by Turkey.

Al-Hashimi said his country desired to train its army and police officers in Turkey as such training and the equipment used were of high quality in Turkey.

"We desire the relations between Turkey and Iraq to become a unique example for both the countries of the region and other states. Hopefully, we will achieve this goal," he said.

Noting that Iraq was currently going through a restructuring process, al-Hashimi said his country needed the support of countries like Turkey during such a period.
