The Turkish military prosecutors have charged two lieutenants in eastern Turkey with allegedly leaking a classified document on the battle against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), local media reported Tuesday.

The lieutenants, serving in the eastern province of Erzincan, were detained in a police raid on their shared house last week after a military investigation found the document had been leaked from Erzincan to civilian sources, said the Milliyet Daily newspaper.

The two, now detained in a military prison, denied the accusation, according to the report.

The document, which contains authentic and highly important intelligence archives in the General Staff about the PKK, was published by a press organization in February, the newspaper cited sources close to the matter as saying.

The Military Prosecutor's Office launched a probe in February and the police found a copy of the document in last week's raid on the house of the two lieutenants, which was shared by another military officer.

Security forces are searching for the other military officer and further detainments could be made in connection with the case, the report said.

The Turkish army has seen several incidents of leaked documents in recent years, some of which were found to include highly confidential information.
