The top legislature of Syria condemned Israel's violation against occupied Palestine territory, its people and religious holy sites, the official Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the People's Assembly condemned Israel allowing Jewish settlers' entrance into al-Aqsa mosque as well as sealing off the old town in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that these practices are a desperate attempt to seize Jerusalem and erase its culture.
Last Sunday, clashes erupted between Palestinian Muslim prayers and Israeli police forces as the latter accompanied a group of Jewish worshippers who tried to break into the yard of al-Haram al-Sharif, where the Muslim's first shrine al-Aqsa mosque is, resulting in injuries of dozens of Palestinians and Israeli police.
The Assembly voiced Syria's support for Palestinian people to reclaim their legitimate rights, calling on Arab and Islamic countries to stand up for Palestinian struggle against Israeli policy of seizing Palestinian lands and demolishing houses of Palestinians.
The statement also urge the international communities to put pressure on Israel to lift its siege on the Gaza Strip.
