Some 500 Turkish Muslims marched on street on Monday in a protest against Israel over violence at a Jerusalem holy site for both Arabs and Jews.

The Turkish Muslims burned an Israeli flag close to the Israeli Consulate, shouting slogans such as "we will protect Al-Aqsa mosque."

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan slashed at Israel in Ankara on Monday, saying that keeping silence about the use of weapons of mass destruction by Israel in Gaza will be unfair.

Speaking about what happened in Gaza early this year during the Israeli offensive, Erdogan said Israel had used weapons of mass destruction, phosphorus bombs particularly, in the operation.

"Phosphorus bombs are weapons of mass destruction. Remaining silent over this would be unfair," Erdogan said.

Relations between Israel and Turkey have soured since the Israeli war against Islamic militants in Gaza in last January.

Earlier this month, Turkey canceled a joint military exercise in which Israeli pilots were planned to participate.
