Brazilian receives hard labor in Jordan for trading narcotics

Jordan's State Security Court on Monday sentenced a Brazilian national to 10 years of hard labor and some 8,000 U.S. dollars in fine after being charged with trading narcotics, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The Brazilian, 33, who is of a Lebanese origin, purchased 5.8 kg of cocaine from drug dealers in Brazil and hid the drug in his suitcase, the news agency said.
It added that the Brazilian recently stopped in Amman en route to the United Arab Emirates from Brazil and upon arrival at the Amman Civil Airport, he was searched by the security personnel who discovered that he was in possession of cocaine.
Also on Monday, the State Security Court sentenced two Saudi nationals and a Jordanian to jail after being charged with trading narcotics.
