The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced Tehran's readiness to play a mediating role between the rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas to settle their differences, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to mediate between Hamas and Fatah to help them materialize their aspirations," an unidentified foreign ministry official was quoted as saying.
According to the report, the official dismissed on Monday the allegations that Iran has interfered in the Palestinian political affairs, and said the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for solidarity of the Palestinian groups to end the Israeli occupation.
During a visit to Tunisia on Friday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused Iran of impeding the reconciliation between Fatah and its rival Hamas.
