Iran able to secure required fuel in case of gasoline sanction: minister

Iran's Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi said that Iran is able to secure its needed gasoline from different foreign sources, or through domestic production if faced with import sanctions, the local satellite Press TV reported on Tuesday.

"The country has so far faced no problem to buy its needed gasoline," Mirkazemi was quoted as saying.

"Foreign companies will actually sanction themselves if they stop selling gasoline to Iran," he told reporters on Monday, adding that those foreign firms will put their names on Iran's black list.

"Under an urgent plan, Iran will boost gasoline production by 14 million liters per day if the country finds it necessary," he added.

Britain, France, the United States and other western countries have been pushing for a fourth round of sanctions to restrict Iran 's nuclear efforts, which they say are aimed at developing nuclear weapons.

Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is only for peaceful purpose.
