Irish president starts visit to Turkey

Irish President Mary McAleese arrived on Monday, kicking off her official five-day visit to Turkey.
McAleese was greeted by the Turkish minister of education and the deputy governor of Istanbul at the state guest house at the airport.
She is expected to hold talks with her counterpart Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Tuesday.
The semi-official Anatolia news agency reported that she will stay in Turkey till March 26.
After holding talks in Turkish capital of Ankara, McAleese will proceed to northwestern province of Canakkale to commemorate Irish soldiers who died during the World War I.
