Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and visiting Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri condemned Monday the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla, Syrian News Agency SANA reported.

Assad and Hariri condemned "Israel's crime on Freedom Fleet," calling on the Arab League and the Islamic Council Organization to take practical steps to put an end to the Israeli assaults, said the report.

The two leaders expressed their gratitude to the government and people of Turkey for their solidarity with Gaza Strip and sending human aids.

Assad underlined his country's support to Lebanon facing the continuous Israeli threats, the report added.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri's visit to Damascus came after his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington a few days ago.

Israeli navy backed with helicopters attacked early Monday morning Gaza-bound aid flotilla in the Mediterranean international waters with live ammunition and gas bombs, causing over 10 activists on board killed and over 30 injured, according to local media.
