Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Wednesday that Iran is fully prepared to provide Lebanese army with cutting-edge military equipment, the English language satellite Press TV reported.
"Lebanon is our friend. If we receive any request (for equipping their army), we have full potential to help them," Vahidi was quoted as saying.
On Tuesday, the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah proposed the Lebanese government should seek military assistance from friendly country of Iran.
Nasrallah's remarks came after U.S. suspended the 100-million- dollar aid to the Lebanese army following a deadly border clash earlier this month that left three Lebanese soldiers and one Israeli military officer dead.
Lebanon said the clash erupted after Israeli soldiers reportedly attempted to uproot a tree near the villages of Adaisseh and Kuferkilla on the Lebanese side.
But Israeli sources claimed that the Israeli troops who were clearing bushes between the Israeli community of Misgav Am and the Lebanese village of Adaisseh were attacked by Lebanese soldiers and fired back.
