Nigerian gov't restates determination to tackle Niger Delta issue |

The Nigerian government has pledged not to neglect the Niger Delta region and go in full swing to tackle the region's question, said Nigerian Vice President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in Port Harcourt, the capital city of Nigeria's southeastern Rivers State, according to local media report on Tuesday.
Jonathan told it to delegates at the maiden Niger Delta Assembly in Nigeria's oil-rich southeastern city Port Harcourt.
The Assembly which was organized by the United Niger Delta Energy Development and Security Strategy following several abductions of foreigners and attacks on oil installation in Nigeria's Niger Delta since early 2006.
The vice president agreed that there had been injustice in the system which must be addressed in the interest of peace and development.
He said the federal government has shown direction in its will to tackle the issues and assured the summit of the determination of the Federal Government to address the issues of the region.
