Foreign observers are expected to begin arriving in Zimbabwe soon ahead of the June 27 presidential poll run-off, local media New Ziana reported on Monday.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is expected to send its observers next week while Pan African Parliament (PAP)observers have set June 13 for their arrival.
PAP mission leader Marwick Khumalo was quoted as saying that an advance team would arrive on June 10 to set up the secretariat. The mission would be made up of 30 observers. "We have resolved to come at least two weeks before the election so that we have enough time to make a fair assessment of the political situation in the run up to the elections," he said.
Over 40 groups of foreign observers are invited to participate in the March 29 harmonised elections, with only one country from Europe-Russia.
The Zimbabwean government has since said the observers are still welcome for the run-off.
