About 150 foreign nationals in Brits, South Africa, have returned to their homes and were accepted by local residents following xenophobic attacks in the area, North West police said.
Inspector Brian Dlamini said they were no longer in any danger in the townships.
"We have held several meetings with the community, and they have accepted the foreigners back," he said.
Since violence erupted throughout Gauteng earlier this month, most of the foreigners in Brits were lodged in a safe location which would not be revealed to the public, Dlamini said.
He said none of the foreigners' houses had been demolished or burned, so returning would not be a problem in this regard.
