Egyptian police said on Saturday they had found two weapon caches in Sinai Peninsula that were meant for the neighboring Gaza Strip.

The caches were found in two different locations. The first one, some 100 km west of the border with the Gaza Strip, contained ammunition, rocket-propelled grenades and anti-aircraft missiles, and the second, which was 3.5 km west of the border, contained about 100 kilograms of explosives.

An unnamed police official said the weapons had been intended to be smuggled into Gaza and police were investigating who buried them.

Israel has accused Egypt of not doing enough to stop smuggling into the strip while Egypt recently said it would do more to stop the smuggling.
