The Zambian High Commission in Pretoria has convened another regional meeting of diplomats accredited to South Africa to demand a through brief on the safety of all foreigners targeted by xenophobic violence, Daily Mail of Zambia said on Thursday.
Zambian High Commissioner Leslie Mbula was quoted as saying that the diplomats were still not sure of foreign nationals' safety in the wake of the xenophobic explosion in recent weeks.
He said that some diplomats presented statistics of their respective nationals who have been caught up in the violent attacks.
Violence against migrants continues in South Africa, with thousands fleeing the rainbow nation for asylum. Xenophobic nationalists accuse foreigners of stealing their jobs and worsening the security situation.
