Several people were slightly injured Wednesday night as one of the tire of the plane their were aboard exploded at takeoff at the Abidjan's airport.

Airport officials said the Airbus 330 from a Brussels Airlines was carrying about 150 people as the accident occurred, and the pilot aborted takeoff at once and the passengers were evacuated.

A fire truck raced to the runway where the plane stopped and quickly extinguished one burning tire. The airport has been closed temporarily.
