Visiting British Foreign Office Minister Kim Howells on Monday expressed Britain's interest to further enhance bilateral relations with Ethiopia.

During his talks with Ethiopia's Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, Howells said the main objective of his visit to Ethiopia is to bolster the age-long Ethiopia-Britain bilateral relations to a higher level.

The existing cooperation between the two sisterly countries is in a good shape, he said, adding that Britain is keen to enhance cooperation with Ethiopia in various fields.

Meles on his part reaffirmed Ethiopia's desire to further strengthen bilateral relations with Britain on various sectors, including in ensuring peace and security.

The two parties also vowed to strengthen ties on regional and international issues, according to a senior official of Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry, who attended the talks.
