Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika reshuffled his cabinet on Monday, appointing Ahmed Ouyahia as head of government to replace Abdelaziz Belkhadem in the reshuffle, the Algerian official news agency APS reported.
Ouyahia, from the National Rally for Democracy (RND) party, was appointed head of government of the oil-rich north African country, beating Belkhadem from the conservative National Liberation Front (FLN) who got the position of minister of state in the regroup, a government release from the president's office was quoted as saying.
Ouyahia has served two terms as Algerian prime minister from 1995 to 1999 and from 2003 to 2006, when he was replaced by Belkhadem in a reshuffle.
Minister replacements were also made at ministries of transport, health, agriculture, information and finance.
The position of Chakib Khelil, who is now rotating president of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and minister of energy and mines in Belkhadem's cabinet, remains intact, according the report of the APS.
President Bouteflika issued a presidential decree providing for the appointments as follows:
Amar Tou, Transport Minister as a replacement for Mohamed Maghlaoui, who has been assigned new duties.
Said Barkat, Health Minister as a replacement for Amar Tou.
Djamel Ould Abbes, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and National Community Abroad.
Rachid Benaissa, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister as a replacement for Said Barkat.
Hamid Bessallah, Post and Information and Communication Technologies Minister as a replacement for Boudjemaa Haichour, who has been assigned new duties.
Nouara Saadia Djaafar, Minister for Family and Women's Conditions at Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and National Community Abroad.
Fatiha Mentouri, former Minister for Financial Reform at Finance Ministry has been assigned new duties. Source:Xinhua
