The permanent representatives committee of the African Union (AU) approved here four initiatives on Africa proposed by Egypt.
The AU committee made the decision during the second-day of its ordinary session in the Egyptian Red Sea resort to prepare for an upcoming African summit.
In the four initiatives, Egypt calls on the pan-Africa bloc to boost cooperation with the United Nations and the Arab world, reduce food prices and set up centers for hosting African conferences.
The Egyptian proposals will be referred to a meeting of African foreign ministers for endorsement on June 27 ahead of the AU summit.
The upcoming AU summit, scheduled for June 30 to July 1 in the Red Sea resort, is the first to be held in Egypt since the AU replaced the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) in 2002.
With the theme of "Meeting the Millennium Development Goals on Water and Sanitation," the AU summit will attract more than 50 African leaders.
