A Sudanese cargo plane crashed near Khartoum Airport on Monday morning, killing its four crew members.

The plane, an Ilyushin 76, chartered by a private company called Ababiel crashed near the airport in an empty area.

Witnesses said that the plane, which was flying from Khartoum to Juba, the capital of southern Sudan, caught fire while it was in the air.

Last Friday another cargo plane, an Antonov 12, crashed near southern Sudanese town of Malaka, killing seven of the crew members.
