Two people were killed and three others injured in an attack on a vehicle belonging to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the local press reported Wednesday.
The vehicle carrying 11 people was attacked late Monday by unidentified gunmen in Kasoso in Virunga National Park, a lush game park in Central Africa, the press reported.
Two people were killed and three others including a trainer for the World Wildlife Fund were injured in the ambush.
The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, opened fire after they spotted the vehicle, it said.
Several militia groups have been active for years in the region around the Virunga National Park, home to the world's last remaining mountain gorillas.
