Sudanese Justice Minister Abdel-Basset Sabdrat condemned the International Criminal Court (ICC)'s procedures on the Sudanese region of Darfur as "political and anti-Sudan."

Addressing a popular march in Khartoum in protest at an expected move by the ICC to issue an arrest warrant against Sudanese President Omar Bashir, Sabdrat said ICC's step is targeting the Sudanese people with an aim to destabilize Sudan.

The Justice Ministry is working with the judicial authority, the Supreme Court and African and Arab legal experts on launching a "legal battle" against the ICC.

Sabdrat's remarks came after reports that ICC's chief prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo plans to ask judges to issue arrest warrant for al-Bashir on allegations of genocide and crimes against humanity for systematic killings in Sudan's western Darfur region.

Thousands of protesters chanted slogans against the United States in massive marches organized by Sudanese trade union federation in Khartoum on Sunday.

The Arab League is in consultation with Arab foreign ministers to hold an emergency meeting on the disputes between Sudan and the ICC.
