Soaring fuel prices have pushed up Tanzania's annual inflation, further lifting the inflation to 9.3 percent in June from 9.1 percent in May, according to the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics.
"The increase in inflation was mainly attributed to increase of petrol, diesel, kerosene and charcoal prices," said the statistical bureau in a statement.
Food inflation also increased to 11.4 percent in the past month, up from 11 percent in May this year.
Food carries a weight of 55.9 percent in Tanzania's basket of goods used to measure inflation.
