Zambian President's illness has brought about new challenges in the way the government looks at the governance of the nation, chief government spokesperson Mike Mulongoti has said, according to Zambia Daily Mail.

He said here Monday that President Levy Mwanawasa's illness is a temporary setback and has assured that the nation will get to where it is supposed to be in the development agenda.

"The issue of President Mwanawasa's illness has brought new challenges in the way we look at Zambia. We took it for granted that we had a leader and all of us were comforted and took cover under him," Mulongoti said.

He assured the nation that all was well in as far as the governance of the nation was concerned but that the government was quite concerned about President Mwanawasa's absence.

Mulongoti who is Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services said, "We have been praying for President Mwanawasa who is indisposed in France. Continue praying because God in his time will answer our prayers."

Mwanawasa is admitted at the Percy Military Hospital in Paris, France, since July 1, 2008 where he is receiving medical treatment.
