A hand grenade attack on the house of a Somali lawmaker in the southern town of Baidoa overnight killed two including the son of the lawmaker who survived the attack, local media reports Wednesday.
The house of Mohamed Hussein Rage was attacked with two hand grenades by unknown assailants who escaped after throwing the grenades inside the house killing Rage's son and one of the bodyguards, Shabelle Radio in Mogadishu said.
Rage accused that armed groups opposed to the Somali transitional government and the presence of foreign forces in Somalia are behind the attacks that has recently increasing in Baidoa, the seat of the parliament.
Meanwhile, another grenade attack was launched on Tuesday against the residence of Mohamed Omar Dalha, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Osman Ali Hassan, a member of parliament. No one was reportedly hurt in the attack.
Islamist fighters have been waging hit and run attacks on targets in Baidoa, 250 km west of Mogadishu, where the Somali parliament has been based for the past two years.
The town has been relatively peaceful compared to the Somali capital where the 18-month-long insurgency against Somali interim government has been deadliest.
Lawmakers are expected to debate a motion put forward by nearly80 MPs seeking to remove the Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein for alleged misuse of government money.
