Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria Awad Taha said on Wednesday in the Nigerian capital of Abuja that plans are underway to revive agreements and trade between Nigeria and Sudan, reported the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.

"The relations between Nigeria and Sudan are deeply rooted in history but we need to revive and access the implementation of these agreements," he said.

According to him, there was a bi-national commission and a joint committee in charge of the agreements, adding that the committee which was established in 1998 would soon hold its second session to finalize some of the agreements.

"We are now exchanging draft agreements and protocols in various fields which include economic, cultural, scientific and the exchange and training of professors and teachers," he added.

The ambassador said the prospects of cooperation between both countries were enormous, stressing that there were still many areas to be explored.

Taha added there were plans to renew the media exchange program.
