Two French citizens taken hostage in Nigeria last month have been released, France's foreign ministry confirmed on Saturday.
The two were set free on Friday and were expected to return to France in the coming days, the foreign ministry said in a statement, expressing thanks to the Nigerian authorities for their rescue efforts.
The two were kidnapped in the Niger Delta on Aug. 2. More than200 foreigners have been kidnapped in the region since 2006, most of them were foreign oil workers.
