The new Angolan government which swore in last Friday has outlined a new four-year SciTech development plan, with the focus on reducing and eliminating hunger and poverty, Angola's official news agency ANGOP reported on Monday.
Candida Teixeira, minister of Science and Technology, was quoted as saying that science and technology research will count on the services of the institutes of veterinary and fishing research and other institutions to fight against hunger and poverty as part of the government program for the next four years.
Meanwhile, newly-appointed State Secretary for Higher Education Adao Gaspar Pereira do Nascimento said that during his four-year term he will place the focus on the mobilization of technicians and staff to achieve strategic goals outlined by the government.
The four-term is short, he said, stressing the need to mobilize staff and technicians to work together as a group with the focus on the accomplishment of the strategic plan, which is the "main challenge," he added.
