A moderate earthquake of 5.1 magnitude shook on Thursday the Nicaraguan Pacific coast without causing victims or material damages.
Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter) said the earthquake struck the southern coasts of the Pacific Ocean.
"The earthquake was felt 68 km deep in the Pacific Ocean," Ineter said in a statement.
Ineter added that the earthquake occurred at 3:29 a.m. local time (0949 GMT).
The epicenter was 144 km south of capital Managua, in front of the San Juan del Sur bay coasts, at the Pacific littoral of Nicaragua.
The Ineter said the earthquake was produced by the crush of the Earth's crust Coco and Caribbean, which activate the failures in the Pacific Ocean. Source:Xinhua
