The government has teamed up with other stakeholders in mobilizing resources to fight the spread of cholera in the country.
The Minister of Health and Child Welfare David Parirenyatwa said in an interview in Beitbridge town soon after assessing the cholera situation that his Ministry had since roped in the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and other key stakeholders in fighting the disease.
"As the government we are equally concerned about the impact of cholera, which started in Chitungwiza before spreading to suburbs in Harare such as Budiriro and Highfield and lately Beitbridge where more than 30 people died within four days. We have therefore put the entire nation on alert," said Parirenyatwa.
"In fact we had a meeting today with our partners WHO, UNICEF, the national water authority, government departments and the Civil Protection Unit in which we resolved to join hands in mobilising resources to fight the cholera epidemic," he said.
He said the national task force had since been established to monitor and assess the situation throughout the country.
