Soldiers on Sunday morning opened fired at Guniea-Bissau's presidential residence, agencies' reports said.

President of the West African country, Joao Bernardo Vieira called his Senegalese counterpart Abdoulaye Wade and told him the event, the reports said.

The incident came after Guinea-Bissau held its much-anticipated legislative election last Sunday, with nearly 600,000 registered voters going to the polls.
