Zambian President Rupiah Banda arrived in Nigeria on Thursday for a one-day visit.

During the visit, which is his first trip outside his country since he won the presidential election last month, Banda is expected to hold bilateral talks with Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua and other top government officials.

The Zambian president was welcomed to the State House in the Nigerian capital of Abuja by a military parade performed by a detachment of the Brigade of Guards. But no details has yet available over the talks between Banda and Yar'Adua by now.

Rupiah Banda won the October 2008 presidential election as the candidate of Zambia's ruling party the Movement for Multiparty Democracy.
