Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak discussed on Monday with Quartet's envoy to the Middle East Tony Blair in Cairo on the situation in Gaza Strip under the ongoing Israeli military attacks.

They had talks on the efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza Strip in light of an Egyptian initiative launched by Hosni Mubarak, said the Egyptian MENA news agency.

They also discussed the necessary aid delivery to help relieve the humanitarian sufferings of the Palestinian civilians in the besieged enclave, MENA added.

During the past 10 days, Tony Blair had met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Jordan's King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his continued efforts to end the Gaza crisis.
