Nigeria's Joint Military Task Force (JTF) on Saturday release the vessel hijacked by militants operating in the oil-rich Delta State on Wednesday, the military spokesman said Saturday.
Rabe Abubukar told Xinhua that the search and rescue operation by the task force on rescued MT Spirit, a chartered vessel owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), was rescued.
He said six foreigners and four Nigerians on board the vessel were also rescued.
During the mission, a soldier was wounded. He was in stable condition and receiving treatment, the spokesman said.
Unidentified gunmen suspected to be militants operating in the Niger Delta on Wednesday hijacked the ocean-going vessel, MV Spirit, with about 20 foreigners on board.
The vessel, chartered by the NNPC, was allegedly abducted by militants from Camp 5 while sailing to Warri to discharge some condensate.
An all-out war broke out on Friday between militants and operatives of the JTF taking a military action code-named Operation Restore Hope.
