A U.S. NGO called Counterpart has built a multi-million dollar project for Mauritania to serve as an animal vaccination park, the government newspaper "Horizon" reported on Monday.

The project, which costs 12 million U.S. dollars, was inaugurated on Sunday in the province of Gorgol, with a capacity of 200 head of cattle and service covering more than 12 villages.

The vaccination park was unveiled amid a vast vaccination campaign being pushed by the Mauritanian authorities to ensure the development of animal husbandry in rural areas after the rainy season.

Counterpart also reportedly contributed to other development projects, especially in assistance to the most vulnerable in society, the newspaper said.
