Guinea's delegation sent by the military junta to Burkina Faso for talks to end the crisis since December has returned amid applause by the authorities for their "fruitful work."

Led by the permanent secretary of the National Council for Democracy and Development (CNDD), Moussa Keita, the government delegation returned on Thursday evening to the Guinean capital Conakry after a day-long discussion in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

Welcomed at the airport by a large crowd, the CNDD delegation was highly congratulated after the negotiations.

It was in this spirit that the official of an association called "Youth Cause", Balla Mamadi Camara, took on the stage and said, "Your Excellencies ministers and the members of the delegation that was in Ouagadougou, we are proud of the fruitful work that you did in Ouagadougou."

"Everybody is waiting for the return of social cohesion and national unity. We thank you: the Youth cause, all the presidents of the five coordination centers in Conakry, as well as the young men and women of Conakry for the great work that you did in Ouagadougou. We congratulate you and hearts are with you," the official said.

After the reception, the delegation was led to the Alpha Yaya Diallo camp, the headquarters of the CNDD to meet with the head of military junta, Capt. Moussa Dadis Camara, to brief him on their mission and the results of the talks.

Keita told Capt. Camara that the CNDD's message was faithfully handed over to the mediator, Burkina Faso's President Blaise Compaore. The document contains 13-page proposals by the CNDD and the government on how to get out of the political crisis.

The authorities claimed that several contributors to the talks held a good opinion of the mission, with all convinced that the Ouagadougou trip was a success.

Capt. Camara thanked the members of the delegation for the good work done in Ouagadougou before saluting them for the love of their country.

Compaore was named the facilitator of the talks last month by the West African bloc ECOWAS, which suspended Guinea after the military junta seized power in December and slapped an arms embargo on the junta following the Sept. 28 crackdown on the opposition.

Compaore had previously talked with the "pressure group" of the opposition in Ouagadougou, where they insisted on the step-down ofthe military junta while proposing a transitional period of months leading to a presidential vote.
