Sierra Leone's official was quoted by media as saying that the reported mining accident was found to be a hoax.

The report said the minister of mineral resources rushed to the site of the western African country where the reported accident took place, only found miners were having a rest.

The official was quoted as saying it was a complete hoax.

Earlier report said at least 200 people were killed on Friday in a cave-in which took place in a mine in the country.

Bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Sierra Leone was between Guinea and Liberia in western Africa. The country covers an area of about 72,000 square km. Its natural resources included gold, diamonds, bauxite and iron ore.
