A soldier of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed and two others sustained injuries in Afghanistan's troubled southern region, a press release of the alliance said Saturday.
"One soldier has been killed and two others injured in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) strike in southern Afghanistan today," the press release added.
However, it did not identify the national of the soldiers or the place of the incident.
Taliban has yet to make any comment.
Southern Afghanistan, which includes Kandahar, the birthplace of Taliban, and the neighboring Zabul, Uruzgan and Helmand provinces commonly known as the hotbed of Taliban militants, has been the scene of bloody fighting over the past two weeks during which some 100 rebels, according to officials, have been killed.
