UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hailed on Tuesday the peaceful parliamentary elections held Monday in Pakistan.
"He commends the people of Pakistan for the largely peaceful conduct of yesterday's parliamentary elections and is encouraged by the commitment of all concerned to respect the democratic process," said a statement issued by Ban's press office.
Initial results showed that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has won the largest number of National Assembly (NA) seats, but not secured a majority. Source: Xinhua
