The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has agreed to provide a grant assistance of 68,214,000 U.S. dollars to the Nepali government, the national news agency (RSS) quoted a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance in Nepali capital Kathmandu on Monday.
A Country Program Action Plan (CPAP) to this effect was signed between the Nepali government and the UNICEF in Kathmandu on Monday. Under the CPAP, UNICEF will provide 20,214, 000 U.S. dollars from its Regular Resources while 48 million U.S. dollars will be provided through Other Resources.
The duration of CPAP is to last for three years between 2008 and 2010. The overall goal of the Country Program is the realization of the rights of all children and women through support to the interlinked objectives of peace, reconciliation, and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MGDs).
Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Krishna Gyawali and Gillian Mellosop, Representative of UNICEF signed the CPAP on behalf of the Nepali government and UNICEF respectively.
Likewise, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has agreed to provide a grant assistance of 28 million U.S. dollars to the Nepali government.
The Ministry said a Country Program Action Plan (CPAP) to this effect was signed between the Nepali government and the UNFPA in Kathmandu on Monday.
Under the CPAP, UNFPA will provide 17 million dollars from its Regular Resources and 11 million dollars from other financing modalities.
The duration of this CPAP will be three years (2008-2010). The program will contribute to the government plan to attain prosperity and build peace by reducing human poverty through good governance, social justice and inclusive development approaches.
Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Krishna Gyawali and Junko Sazaki, the UNFPA Representative signed the CPAP on behalf of the Nepali government and UNFPA respectively.
Similarly, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has agreed to provide a grant assistance of 94. 38 million dollars to Nepal.
According to the Ministry, a Country Program Action Plan (CPAP) to this effect was signed between the Government of Nepal and the UNDP in Kathmandu on Monday.
Under the CPAP, UNDP will provide 25.581 million dollars from its Regular Resources and 68.799 million dollars from other resources. The duration of this CPAP is three years (2008-2010).
The overall goal of the Program is to support Nepali government's Three Year Interim Plan.
