U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said Thursday the UN Security Council will vote on a draft resolution imposing further sanctions against Iran for its controversial nuclear program.

"We have agreed with the co-sponsors ... with regard to the resolution on Iran non-proliferation issue, and to vote on Saturday," Khalilzad told reporters after attending a council meeting on Iran.

He said most of the 15 council members voiced support for the draft co-sponsored by France and Britain although there were still members who said some issues were being addressed.

He added that the draft will take a twin-track approach, which means increasing pressure on Iran for it to cooperate and at the same time seeking "engagement" with it.
